Baja Ha-Ha!
The Baja Ha-Ha is a 750- mile cruisers rally from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas Mexico. By “cruisers” I mean adventure seekers who live and travel on their boats – mostly sailboats. By “rally” I mean 123 boats with 400+ sailors nicely making their way down the coast of Mexico. We were excited to join this annual iconic sailing event! We met so many amazing people – captains, crew, and locals.
During the longest of our offshore transit, we were delighted to find dolphins dancing on our bow – hundreds of them! It was magical! Entering the bay of Bahia Santa Maria, we could see high cliffs are the perfect spot for our second stop and infamous Baja Ha-Ha beach party.
Nothing can stop the locals from bringing in a band, cranking up the generator, and rocking the sleepy fishing camp once a year for the Baja Ha-Ha Cruisers! Dancing around in a conga line, playing tug-o-war and trying to find our boats in the dark must have been entertaining for the locals who came out to watch.
I will cherish the memories of my new friends, reminisce about collecting sand dollars on Frisbee beach, and smile as I think of the bouncing conga line at Baja Santa Maria!
Baja Ha-Ha cruisers – save me a berth for 2013!
