WELCOME Will Miller! New President and CEO of The Multihull Company! And thank you Phil Berman.
Chris & Chrystal have been yacht brokers for The Multihull Company (TMC) and 5 Oceans Marine group since 2013. Chris met Phil Berman, founder of TMC, at the Annapolis Boat Show in 2008 where Chris was working at the booth for St. Vincent and the Grenadines. When Chris asked Phil: “Hey, ever consider sailing in St. Vincent and the Grenadines?” Phil put down his briefcase and proceeded to explain why he would never sail there again.
He went on to explain how difficult it can be to check in and out of that country. To be fair, he had a valid argument. Compared to other countries, SVG can be more of struggle. Chris forgot about it until he saw a distinguished looking gentleman on the plane a few months later. He couldn’t quite place the face. He walked out of the airport and the taxi driver had a sign that said: “Phil Berman.” What?
The next day, Chris ran into Phil at the Driftwood Bar at the Barefoot base in St. Vincent. Smiling from ear to ear, Chris reminded Phil the conversation at the boat show which made them both laugh! Phil was there to sell a boat, so legit. After that, Chris made it a point to always say “Hi” to Phil at The Multihull Company dock at the boat show in Annapolis. In 2013, Phil heard that Chris & Chrystal just started LTD Sailing School in Grenada. He asked if Chris would be interested in opening up a TMC office on the island. Knowing that most of our students want to eventually buy boats and, at the time there were no full time brokers on the island, Chris accepted.
So, that folks was just the beginning of our adventures and accomplishments in Grenada. The Multihull Company has recently been purchased by Will Miller, owner of Charleston Sailing School and long-time TMC broker. We are looking forward to working with Will and his wife, Lynn. And thank you to Phil Berman who took a chance on two salty sailors living the dream in the Caribbean way back in 2013. All the best!
