Sail La Paz: A Sea of Cortez Flotilla Adventure with LTD Sailing

February 26 – March 4, 2026 | 7 Days, 6 Nights

Why La Paz?

Nestled along the Baja California peninsula, La Paz is a sailor’s dream. With its striking desert-meets-sea landscape, remote anchorages, and abundant marine life, the Sea of Cortez is both serene and full of adventure. If you’ve been waiting for the right excuse to explore Mexico by sail, this is it.

Whether you’re a returning alumni or joining LTD Sailing for the first time, this flotilla blends relaxation and exploration, with a little off-the-grid magic thrown in.

Meet Your Flotilla Leaders

This adventure will be led by LTD Sailing instructors Kira and Joe. They’ve taught sailing courses in Baja for many years and know these waters well — from the best snorkeling spots to the quietest anchorages.

Their goal is to make this flotilla not just a vacation, but a skill-building experience. Whether you want to brush up on your navigation, get more confident on the helm, or just soak it all in, Kira and Joe will guide the way with encouragement and local knowledge.

Where to Stay

Planning to arrive early or extend your stay? Great idea.

Lodging Before or After the Charter

There are plenty of lodging options at and around the base:

Hotels at Marina Costa Baja:

In La Paz Proper:
The city offers everything from boutique hotels to budget-friendly stays. It’s a lively, walkable town with great food and a charming waterfront.

Weather & Conditions

February in Baja offers ideal conditions for sailing, with air temps ranging from the 60s to 80s °F (15–26°C). Water temps are comfortable for swimming and snorkeling.

Before or After the Flotilla: Wildlife Encounters

We will board the boats around 9am on our first day. We always recommend arriving early and relaxing before your adventure. Baja delivers unforgettable wildlife encounters.

Grey Whale Migration (Dec–March)

Peak season is mid-February to late March, aligning perfectly with our flotilla dates. A once-in-a-lifetime chance to see these giants up close.

Whale Shark Tours (Oct–April)

La Paz is one of the few places you can swim with whale sharks. Tours run about 4 hours and depart right from town.

Sea Lion Encounters (Sept–May)

Snorkel or scuba with playful (but wild!) sea lions. We don’t recommend this as a charter-day activity due to anchoring restrictions, but it’s great as a day trip before or after the flotilla.

  • Alumni: $3,300 USD per person (double occupancy)
  • Non-Alumni: $3,600 USD per person (double occupancy)

Deposit: 50% due at time of booking
